Dear Friends in Christ,
Happy New Year from wintery Colorado!  We hope this letter finds each of you rejoicing in God’s goodness and faithfully serving Him in whatever capacity He has for you.
Our theme for the year is “Be Lively Stones in God’s House” and it comes out of 1 Peter 2:5  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.  As the past year has made us very aware, tomorrow holds a great deal of uncertainty.  Really, that’s the way it has always been, but I think we realize it more now.  We may not feel as if we can make many plans for the future, but we can do everything in our power to be faithful, hardworking church members…you know…‘lively’.  The only hope for each person, for our nation, and for the world is the Lord’s churches fulfilling their responsibility to reach people with the Gospel, getting them baptized, and making disciples that make disciples.  My prayer for Victory Baptist Church is to see the Lord use us to make a NOTICEABLE impact in our community and then to the uttermost.  In order to do that, we need to do our best to be the ‘liveliest’ stones we can.
What a great time it is to be in ministry!  I believe there are so many folks out there looking for answers and for hope.  We have visitors just about every week.  Some, you can tell are looking for something else and we never hear from them again.  Others though, seem to be finding where God wants them and return for more.  As always, we ask for you to pray that we will see fruit that remains.  My wife Linda was able to leave a tract with a woman she did some work for, and her adult daughter, who we didn’t even know lived there, saw it the next Sunday morning.  She told us she had been looking for a church but was having a hard time finding one that was any good.  She said that tract was “sent from God” and she came that morning and loved it.  She actually teared up after the service and was just praising God for His goodness.  It is so encouraging when God uses our feeble efforts for His glory.  Please pray for Brandi.
I am sure we have the same issue as all of you, but I would appreciate your prayers as we are having the hardest time finding people that will commit to the work.   They come, they love the people, the music, and the preaching, but we see them only sporadically, and they don’t or won’t join.  We have also recently had several folks leave because of doctrinal issues.  We ask that you pray for us as we do what you are supporting us to do.  We will stand on the Word in these dark days even if it means not everyone (or anyone) will like us.  We know there are people out there that will accept His truth and will commit to serving Him.  Pray that the Lord places them in our path.
Our main method of outreach right now has been handing out John and Romans and hanging them on doors.  While there are some that don’t, so many people appreciate receiving a portion of God’s Word and they like to know there is a church that still cares about them.  Someone once said, “If you tell enough people about Jesus, He will start telling people about you.”  It always encourages me when we have someone show up to church that got a John and Romans “a couple of months ago”.
Pray for us as we continue to remain faithful in Monument, CO, encouraging and equipping believers and telling the lost about salvation in Jesus Christ.  We are praying for you.

In His service,
